Spine

Part of the anatomy of a bound item (for example, a book), structurally situated between the front and back of item. Paper (or other printed surfaces) are usually gathered and bound at this central point – for example, collated signatures. The external side of the spine may feature information relating to the item, such as a title, subtitle, publisher's logo, and/or the name(s) of the author(s).
